Monitoring water points across our properties is a very time and resource-intensive task. Sometimes if a water point fails, it can mean that other land management or animal-focused projects can slip in priority.

An update on what's been happening on our farms during the first few months of 2020.

Stifled by unrelenting drought and compounded by the national bushfire crisis, Australian cattle producers endured an extremely difficult start to 2020. However, for many, the outlook has changed dramatically on the back of widespread and consistent rainfall since February.

Success for any cattle business is heavily dependent upon production quality and efficiencies. We believe these are gained through a robust fertility program and sustainable farm practices to ensure cost, time and land impacts are minimised proportionate to production.

The unpredictable nature of Australia's seasons means our animals require constant monitoring year-round to guarantee adequate nourishment. Without a robust supplementation program, a sudden protein drop when pasture becomes stressed can impact fertility, appetite and risk of fracture.

The national cattle herd is set to drop to its lowest level in more than two decades in 2020, following one of the most challenging years on record.
